Adapt or perish; that’s the imperative for this fifty-four-year-old. What if I don’t want to adapt to this world of technical domination? It doesn’t matter. I’m not ready to perish yet and I have a story to tell; starting here on Substack. ā€œSteal this book,ā€ please; for now. Share it with anyone you know who currently toils in the Gig Economy; anyone who cares about human rights; anyone that cares about existential threats to human survival.

Full Dashclosure is the product of two-and-a-half years of work, research and writing and I’m thrilled to finally begin sharing it with you. Substack is the right format for this book; though it’s my intention that the full work will be in both print and audio versions as well. Why Substack?

  1. I don’t want to wait to release important information. The DoorDash Singularity is an insidious illusion and dystopic deception perpetrated through the smartphone app-based deployment of data science and artificial intelligence.

  2. Characterizing the latest schemes of the Gig Economy is like nailing jello to the wall and more regulatory changes are coming in 2023. My motivation to write Full Dashclosure comes from the hard-working and much-harmed labor pool of gig workers.

  3. For me, the hardest part of writing this book is financially surviving to finish it. I have to start monetizing my work in a format that I can control, and yet also freely share it as I desire.

  4. I learn more every day about the impacts and growing discord in the gig economy labor community. The feedback I get from Dashers and other gigapp workers continues to shape my thoughts.

  5. Straight from me to you. You get to be straight back. I wouldn’t have it any other way. I want to hear from you.

  6. Changing one’s perceptions, perspectives and consciousness are processes; sometimes long, sometimes refused and rejected. When we see an illusion, we want to believe the magic. We can become invested in our own deception.

  7. Substack enables me to link sources and resources directly from text. Unlike the gig economy corporations, I’ll provide documented facts and figures with details and in context.

  8. I will add video content and podcast material to the project; utilizing the powerful resources of Substack to present much more depth to the subject matter than a book alone could ever provide. The book, Full Dashclosure, is the beginning, not the end.

  9. This book will be a relentlessly human experience in both concept and design. The key to our species evolving beyond the chains of corporate-driven dehumanization and exploitation is our awakening to the consciousness of our shared humanity.

I look forward to sharing Full Dashclosure with you.
